Air Pollution

Air Pollution affects everyone even though you may not realize it. Smoke hinders your breathing, and dirties the air. Even trash causes air pollution. Even the chip bag you threw away produces methane gas, which builds up in the atmosphere. When trash gets thrown out it builds up in landfills and as litter on the side of roads, in yards, and in forests. The trash produces gas that harms the air and dirties it. You can reduce this by following the “reduce, reuse, recycle” rule. This means that when you can reuse something, you should. For example, use glass bottles as vases. Recycle whenever you can, and also try and buy things with less plastic packaging. Humans emit many gasses into the air from cars and fossil fuels, which adds up fast. Even garbage dumps produce harmful gasses. A way to reduce this is by using public transportation like busses. Riding bikes is another way to help, because they keep the air clean. Try and use clean energy like solar or wind, and speak up about the harmful energy we use. Like I said before, use less trash. It will help. Air pollution also causes health problems and makes people get sick. It can affect your lungs and make it hard for you to breath. Using log burning fireplaces doesn't help and neither does burning brush and trash in your yard. Using gas furnaces are better for the environment and still keep your house warm! In conclusion, this is why we need to care about our air! You can get sick from it and have to miss out on things. It's better for everyone if we all work to keep our air clean.

Mountain Marvels

Mountains are wonders of the Earth, beautiful for all to see. Tall peaks and steep slopes, looming over everything. They often cause natural borders, separating countries from one another. Some have gaping holes with ash leaking out while others are tall and pointy.  For the people around the weather can be strange. On one side it’s wet and cold, and the other a dry desert with hot days. And living in them can be tough. While they are beautiful, I don't suggest living there. There are few roads, and not much work. With limited soil, farming can be hard. It is expensive to build railways, but there are many natural resources. However, those are expensive to get also. I think I'll stick to just looking at them.  Andes Mountains Most often, Mountains form in ranges. It's very unusual for Mountains to form by themselves. Some of the most known ranges are the Andes and the Himalayas. The Andes are the longest chain of mountains that don’t split. The highest mountain in the A...

Should we get rid of the Penny?

Pennys. They are the most loved, and hated, coin of America. They are difficult to sort, and hard to handle. And why pay for things with just pennies when you could use a paper bill? Like I said before, pennies are hard to handle. Every year, on average, an American spends 2.4 hours on counting and sorting pennies. If you ask me that sounds like a waste of time. And most pennies just end up in jars, or stuffed behind cushions. However, most Americans still want the penny. The penny has Abraham Lincoln on it, and lots of people don't want to get rid of one of the most influential leaders off of a coin. Pennies are a waste, not just of time, but of money as well. It costs the Mint, the Government Agency that makes the money, 1.5 cents to make a 1 cent coin. If the penny was gone, tax payers could save millions of dollars every year. Even with that you may end up losing more money. Without the penny prices would have to be rounded up or down. Most people selling would want to rou...
